November started with a bang for RFA California. Two important regulatory meetings were going on simultaneously, each with an agenda item related to the Marine Reserves at the Channel Islands, among other things. As the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) was meeting in San Diego, the California Fish & Game Commission (CF&GC) was meeting two hundred miles away in Santa Barbara.
While Jim Martin, RFA's West Coast Regional Director tackled a week long agenda at the PFMC, Joel Greenberg, RFA SoCal Co-Chair covered the CF&GC meeting.
"This was a perfect example of how RFA can muster the collaborative resources to cover multiple venues, even in a vast state like California, with our 1100 miles of coastline," says Greenberg. "Jim and I were in constant touch by cell phone with one another, comparing notes several times a day so that one process could inform the other. We also had John Holloway of RFA Oregon down in San Diego with Jim, while Steve Campi, RFA NorCal, spent some time in Santa Barbara. We definitely had our bases covered!"
